How the dispatch model works
We run a phone line, not a web form. When you call, we ask about the problem, find the closest available licensed plumber and send them to you. The plumbers we dispatch are licensed and insured, and the work is done by those plumbers at your property.
Nobody on this site claims a founding year, a job count or a review score, because we would rather leave those out than guess at them. What we can stand behind is the process: a clear price before work starts, same-day appointments when the schedule allows and an emergency line that is answered around the clock.
How to check any plumber's license
In California, plumbing work is performed under a contractor license, and the Contractors State License Board lets you look up a license number, its classification and its status. A C-36 classification covers plumbing. Ask any plumber, including ours, for the license number and look it up before work begins.
Also ask whether a permit is needed. In Mountain View the Building Division requires one for every water heater replacement, for example. A plumber who says a permit is unnecessary for a water heater swap here is a plumber to question.
What we do not do
We do not offer HVAC, electrical or roofing work, and we do not diagnose mold or air quality. When a plumbing problem needs another trade, such as an electrician after a flooded panel, we tell you so rather than stretching the job.
We also do not promise an exact arrival minute. Mountain View traffic on El Camino Real and Central Expressway makes that a promise nobody can keep. We give you the dispatch window and update you if it changes.
Where we work
We dispatch across Mountain View and next door in Los Altos, with calls reaching Sunnyvale, Palo Alto and Cupertino as well. The full list is on the service area page, and the services we handle are in the plumbing services index.
Our commitments, stated plainly
- We answer the emergency line 24/7.
- We state a price before work begins.
- We send licensed, insured plumbers.
- We tell you when a repair is enough and when it is not.
- We do not publish claims we cannot support.
Why a dispatch model suits plumbing emergencies
Plumbing emergencies are unevenly distributed. A heavy rain, a cold snap or a holiday weekend produces a surge of calls, and a single small crew cannot answer them all. A dispatch line that reaches several licensed plumbers lets us send the closest available one, which shortens the wait.
The trade-off is that you speak to a dispatcher first and a plumber second. We keep the questions short and useful, because the answers decide who is sent and what goes on the truck. After that, the plumber is your contact for the work itself.
How we write the pages on this site
Every page is written around a real plumbing question and checked against public sources where it mentions a local fact. When we cite the City of Mountain View, the City of Los Altos or a water utility, the statement comes from their own published pages. When we cannot confirm something, we leave it out.
That is why you will not find invented prices, review counts or years in business here. A page that guesses at facts is worse than a shorter page that does not.
What to expect when you call
- A short set of questions. Address, symptom and what you have already done.
- A dispatch window. When the plumber is expected and how we will update you.
- A diagnosis and a price. Stated before work begins.
- The work and a walkthrough. Done by the licensed plumber, with cleanup.
Where we are and how to reach us
Our dispatch address is 1040 Grant Road in Mountain View, near Cuesta Park. The address is a base for the dispatch line, so please call before you visit. The phone is the fastest route to a plumber at any hour, and email at contact@expressplumbermountainview.com is for questions that are not urgent.
If you are not sure whether a problem is an emergency, call anyway. We would rather answer a question that turns out to be minor than miss one that was not.
The plumbers we dispatch work under the California Plumbing Code, and the Contractors State License Board lists the C-36 classification for plumbing contractors, which you can look up for any license number.
